In 2007, I began my original website, Sonshine's Haven. In 2007, it was turned into a blog and used to keep family updated on my first husband's fight with liver cancer. He passed away November of 2009. We were married for 34+ wonderful years and this journals some of that grief process I've gone through.

I have since remarried another widower, but Mike is missed dearly, and will always be a big part of my life.

At times, all of us will be called to act as witnesses to the suffering of another. We will be unable to affect the outcome physically. Words will fail us. Prayer will seem futile. And yet, the act of bearing witness to someone else's trials is a sacred sorrow that offers and astounding glimpse of eternal joy." by Ginger Garrett

"Being willing to stay with a loved one throughout their travail, can be difficult....YES! But offering yourselves as faithful companions on a dark and dreadful journey can be an unmeasured blessing." (paraphrased by me)

Reflection

Today I spent some time thinking about the word FAITH and what it means to me. I was reading about a Canaanite woman’s great faith from Matthew 15:21-28. The story wasn’t simply about a woman’s faith, but showed me the desperation of her faith, where great faith often begins. Her desperation led her to hope, and in this hope she was unashamed. She came boldly, kneeling, worshiping God, and ceaselessly praying, Lord, help me! The Canaanite woman’s faith was without shame because she knew Jesus was her only hope. She came trusting and showed a relentless dependence on Him. I know that kind of desperation, and I continue to place all my trust in Him.

Mike needed a little extra help today with pain so he took something a little stronger than his usual Tylenol or Ibuprofen. It was enough to take the edge off of what he was feeling and to make him a little more comfortable. He often says weekends are the hardest for him because he has more opportunity to sit around and "feel" the side effects more. He'd rather be distracted by work or activities. Walking and headaches seem to be his largest problem with pain right now. Please continue to pray for this chemo to beat up this tumor, without causing too much pain for Mike in other areas of his body.

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12
