In 2007, I began my original website, Sonshine's Haven. In 2007, it was turned into a blog and used to keep family updated on my first husband's fight with liver cancer. He passed away November of 2009. We were married for 34+ wonderful years and this journals some of that grief process I've gone through.

I have since remarried another widower, but Mike is missed dearly, and will always be a big part of my life.

At times, all of us will be called to act as witnesses to the suffering of another. We will be unable to affect the outcome physically. Words will fail us. Prayer will seem futile. And yet, the act of bearing witness to someone else's trials is a sacred sorrow that offers and astounding glimpse of eternal joy." by Ginger Garrett

Mike has had a good week, and has even told me, he has felt his best in a long time. A few days this week he seemed to have greater amounts of energy and strength, and enjoyed tinkering around in his shop on those days. When he would get tired, he just grabbed some Gatorade, and sat down for a little while.

The only difficulty Mike's experienced this week is falling asleep at night and his constant foot and leg pain. On Friday, he began taking Lyrica, which usually is given to patients with Fibromyalgia, but has also been proven to help patients with Neuropathy. It will take a few days to adjust up to a normal treatment level, but we're hoping for some relief from his neuropathy pain in about a month.

There are no plans to repeat any lab studies before our scheduled trip to MD Anderson, April 21st. If Mike should begin to have trouble with his tubes before then, we would just plan on getting whatever is needed, done in Little Rock, and then let the remainder be taken care of in Houston.

Thank you for keeping us protected by your prayers.
