In 2007, I began my original website, Sonshine's Haven. In 2007, it was turned into a blog and used to keep family updated on my first husband's fight with liver cancer. He passed away November of 2009. We were married for 34+ wonderful years and this journals some of that grief process I've gone through.

I have since remarried another widower, but Mike is missed dearly, and will always be a big part of my life.

At times, all of us will be called to act as witnesses to the suffering of another. We will be unable to affect the outcome physically. Words will fail us. Prayer will seem futile. And yet, the act of bearing witness to someone else's trials is a sacred sorrow that offers and astounding glimpse of eternal joy." by Ginger Garrett

The Adventure Begins........

Glenn and I are home and feeling grateful for a wonderful two week honeymoon!  We had such a great time enjoying all the activities on the ship to Hawaii, as well as stopping at ports in Hilo, Honolulu, Nawiliwili, Lahaina, and Ensenada.

The start of our honeymoon began with a tornado in Little Rock near the hotel we were staying at by the airport.  We started our way across the street on foot, to the Waffle House, to grab something quick to eat, when we were stopped by a circular spiral of rain and tremendous wind.  We were caught outside of our hotel in a second set of automated doors, while the interior doors locked us out.  Finally some other guests requested the lobby manager to let us in, where we later heard a tornado had just gone through that area.  What a way to start an adventure!

So we head to Los Angeles early Friday morning.  The weather there was rainy and cool, but it was really fun to land at the popular LAX airport I've always heard about.  (I know....it doesn't take much to entertain me!)  My eyes were peeled for any "stars" that might be surrounded by cameras, reporters, and the such. Afterall, it was Oscar weekend!!  The most I got was some athelete, I'm guessing, who I don't even have a clue who he was.  I'm figuring he wasn't a big deal, because there was only one reporter and camera on him! :-)  I just stood there with eyes glued on him, hoping I could catch a name or something.  Glenn didn't have a clue who he was and was focused on getting to the right shuttle.
(Glenn treats me to Hot Chocolate before heading back to the airport to catch the bus!  He was already trigger happy with his camera!  Aren't I graceful?!)

Saturday morning we loaded up on a bus to head to the ship with about half of the airport.....;-) Just kiddin'!

By 1 p.m., we were on the ship having something to eat. Let the fun begin!!! Notice that I'm freezing......

I had to show Glenn the ropes being a frequent sailor myself....(one prior trip)! So much fun to walk up to the counter and request a cheeseburger without paying!  I've got my food in one hand and Diet Coke in the other.....bring on the warm weather and the fun!

To be continued...............
